A note from Claudio on his retirement from professional soccer.
On July 16th I announced my retirement from professional soccer after 14 years. My travels and experiences through soccer have taught me valuable life lessons. Through the use of my newly formed foundation and the programs we provide for underprivileged children, I now have the chance to pass these lessons on to future generations. The Claudio Reyna Academy will provide a place for kids to play soccer, develop social and leadership skills and become a positive influece on the community around them.
Competing in multiple World Cups, representing the United States in the Olympic Games and playing in Europe in front of large crowds and were all experiences that surpassed even my wildest dreams. Soccer opened many doors for me and that same opportunity exists for anyone willing to accept the process of developing as a player and a person.
Thanks to all soccer fans both here in the United States and abroad for your years of support.
